Judge Donald C. Pogue was appointed a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade (USCIT) by President Clinton in 1995. In addition to his responsibilities as one of the nine members of the Court, he serves as Chair of the Court =s Long Range Planning Committee and Chair of the Court=s Budget Committee. He also serves on the Judicial Conference Committee on the Administrative Office.Before his appointment to the USCIT, Judge Pogue served as a Judge in Connecticut =s Superior Court.Prior to appointment to the Connecticut bench, Judge Pogue served as Chairman of Connecticut =s Commission on Hospitals and Health Care, the public agency responsible for regulating Connecticut=s health care industry. He was originally appointed as Commissioner by Governor O=Neill in 1989, and was named Chairman by Governor Weicker.Prior to joining the Commission, Judge Pogue practiced law in Hartford for fifteen years with the firm of Kestell, Pogue, & Gould. The firm is counsel for many Connecticut unions. Judge Pogue is a magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Dartmouth College, with highest honors in government, and has done graduate work at the University of Essex, England. Law Clerk Hiring Policy One clerk is hired each year for a two-year clerkship commencing September. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, undergraduate and law school transcripts, three letters of recommendation and a writing sample. Law review or other writing experience, and experience or interest in international trade are considered in ranking applicants. Travel for circuit court work required. Vacancies The next law clerk opening is for the two-year term commencing September 2011. Applications will be accepted starting September 1, 2011 to September 22, 2011.
