AOC Partners with D.C. High School to Share Expertise: The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is developing a partnership with Phelps Architecture, Construction, and Engineering High School in Northeast DC, so our staff can share its expertise with the students. The students there are studying to enter career fields that are related to the AOC’s work.
As part of this initiative, the Capitol Buildings’ shops hosted field trips for the freshman class on May 13, 14, and 21. The students visited the CVC Control Room for a discussion about monitoring lighting, HVAC, elevators, and fire alarms; and visited the Decorative Painting, Sheet Metal, and Carpentry Shops.
