This recommendation reaffirms the USPSTF’s 2004 recommendation on Screening for Syphilis Infection with respect to pregnant women. Go to http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/3rduspstf/syphilis/syphilrs.htm to view the 2004 recommendation for screening persons at increased risk and asymptomatic persons not at increased risk for syphilis infection.

  • The USPSTF recommends that clinicians screen all pregnant women for syphilis infection.
