Mark Weiss

Utilities and Power Plant Operations

Mr. Weiss completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Design Engineering Technology at Pennsylvania State University in 1972 and received his Master's of Business degree in Finance and Management from Loyola Marymount University of Virginia in 1983.

After working at Potomac Electric Power Company in many positions such as Manager of Engineering, Manager of Generation, and Director of Technology, Mr. Weiss retired with 32 years of vested service. He was a member of Edison Institute and Electric Power Research Institute.  Mr. Weiss is a current member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland and Virginia

In March 2006, Mr. Weiss was appointed by the Deputy Architect/Chief Operating Officer and Architect of the Capitol as Director of Utilities and Power Plant Operations at the Capitol Power Plant.  In his role as Director he manages over 95 employees and supplies all the steam and chilled water to more than 47 buildings and locations.  He also is responsible for fuel and energy used at the Capitol Complex.

He resides in Maryland with his wife. He has three grown children and a mixed breed dog, Phoebe.
