CIO Council Special Meeting held August 7, 2009
On Friday, August 7, 2009, the CIO Council held a special meeting to discuss IT investment management, transparency and the IT Dashboard, and efforts to improve agency IT portfolio and project performance. The Council heard from speakers who offered their perspectives on the issues and challenges at hand. Speakers included:
  • Erik Hopkins, Professional Staff Member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee
  • Randy Hite, Director, IT Architecture & Systems Issues, General Accounting Office
  • Phyllis Fong, Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Chair of the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency
  • Brian Miller, Inspector General, General Services Administration
  • Mike Tankersley, Inspector General, Export Import Bank of the U.S.
  • Tom Sharpe, Senior Procurement Executive and Deputy Chief Acquisition Officer, Treasury
  • Lesley Field, Deputy Administrator, Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Office of Management & Budget
The invited guests sparked a great discussion by Council members on the approach they can take collectively and on behalf of their own agencies regarding IT investments.
