Bone and Cartilage Tumors
Neutron therapy is appropriate for the following histologies:
- Osteogenic sarcoma
- Ewing's sarcoma
- Malignant giant cell tumors
- Fibrosarcoma of bone
- Chondrosarcoma
Patients who may benefit from neutron therapy include:
- Patients who want to avoid the surgical option of amputation.
- Newly diagnosed patients with unresectable (inoperable) disease, or residual disease following surgery (positive margins).
- Patients whose disease has recurred after surgery.
- Patients with bone metastasis from squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, or sarcoma
