Assets for Independence Now Accepting Grant Applications!

The Federal Office of Community Services (OCS) is accepting applications Assets for Independence Demonstration Program (AFI) grants.   Non-profit organizations and State, local and Tribal government agencies are eligible to apply.  The AFI program supports asset building strategies, including Individual Development Account projects that provide low-income families with financial education and assistance while they save earned income into a matched savings account called an Individual Savings Accounts (IDAs) in order to purchase a long-term economic asset such as a home, a business, or an education.

Applications are due Thursday, June 25, 2009 so consider applying TODAY.

New: AFI Application Question and Answer Conference Call

Register for a special interactive question and answer session on Wednesday, June 17th at 2 pm Eastern to have your questions answered about the AFI program. Information about registering for the interactive conference calls is available at:  www.acf.hhs.gov/assetbuilding or by emailing info@idaresources.org.

This is the final call in a 4-part conference call series leading up to this application deadline. If you missed a call and are interested in finding out more information on:
