There are 3 main islands in the territory, St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, as well as Water Island and several dozen additional small islands. The U.S. Virgin islands are an organized territory of the United States and its inhabitants are U.S. citizens, though they can not vote in U.S. presidential elections. According to the 2000 Census, there are nearly 108,612 residents in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the territory's growth rate is estimated to be -0.12% in 2006 (CIA World Fact Book). Approximately 95 percent of U.S. Virgin Islands population live on the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix, each with over 51,000 residents Map of U.S. Virgin Islands Network Members (Updated 2/1/2008) |
