Welcome to People Incorporated, a private non-profit corporation chartered in 1964 as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s first Community Action Agency. People Incorporated provides opportunities for low-income people to improve their lives, their families and their communities.

Our services are designed to move people toward self-sufficiency and into the economic mainstream. Through a variety of innovative programs, we help people build and acquire assets by assisting them to continue their education, improve their health or job skills, increase their savings, find safe and affordable housing, or develop a small business.

People Incorporated employs a staff of approximately 250 and has established two affiliate corporations to deliver a full range of development services throughout Southwest Virginia. In 2006, we touched the lives of over 6,700 men, women and children, and continue our work everyday to make Southwest Virginia a better place to live.
