Material Safety Data Sheets

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provide guidelines and handling precautions for persons who may be occupationally exposed to chemicals/substances and for emergency responders who could come into contact with such materials. The MSDS typically include information about a substance such as its physical content and characteristics, possible health effects resulting from exposure, first aid measures, storage and disposal requirements and other applicable procedures. MSDS also include OSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL) and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Threshold Limit Values (TLV). TVA’s MSDS for ash also include the concentrations of the various materials found in the ash.
