Spring 2010 will mark the seventh year of a Science Bowl competition designed specifically for middle school students. The Middle School Science Bowl is the first-of-its-kind competition in the Midwest to offer a challenging science and math competition for students in grades 6-8. Day One of the two-day competition will see student teams race hydrogen fuel-cell cars. Day Two will involve the traditional science and math quiz-bowl competition.
Basic facts:

- Will include 16 teams of 5 students – 80
kids plus coaches
- For students in grades 6, 7, and 8
- Held on Iowa State University campus
- Two-day competition
- First day includes a hydrogen
fuel-cell car race
- Second
day is the academic competition.
- Trophies are presented to the top two teams in the fuel cell race and the top three teams in the academic competition. Each winning team member will receive an individual award.
- Winner of the academic competition advances to the National Middle School Science Bowl, held in Washington, DC, April 29 - May 4, 2010.
