NOTE: Atlantis' main propulsion system cavity purge is complete. Installation of the pyrotechnic canister assemblies at the aft external tank/orbiter attach points continues. Engineers are gaining access to the rudder speed brake sector seals for visual inspections. The Shuttle's payload bay doors will be opened next Friday to support vertical payload installation on Saturday. The Spacehab payload will be delivered to Pad 39A on Sept. 4. No work is scheduled this weekend.
STS-86 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
NOTE: Remote manipulator system functional checks are under way. Electrical mates of the orbiter maneuvering system oxidizer cross-feed line continue. Helium system leak and functional tests are in work today and will conclude on Tuesday. Fuel cell monitoring modifications continue in Columbia's midbody and window polishing is ongoing.
STS-87 SCHEDULED OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only):
NOTE: Installation of fuel cell No. 2 is complete and mechanical mates are in work. Servicing of Endeavour's ammonia boiler and Ku-band testing occur today. Work to install the power drive unit on the right external tank door is under way. Weight saving modifications on the orbiter's elevon coves and repair work on the body flap continue. Technicians have replaced 3 of 8 faulty transducers on the forward reaction control system in the Hypergol Maintenance Facility. Work to replace the remaining transducers will resume next week.
NOTE: Replacement of display electronic unit No. 1 is complete. Deservicing of the Shuttle's orbiter maneuvering system and auxiliary power units is under way. Preparations are in work for Shuttle main engine removal and payload equipment removal continues.
