More than one million people die of malaria every year, mostly infants, young children and pregnant women, and most of them in Africa. Finding effective ways to control and eventually eradicate the disease is a high priority of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). For the latest in NIAID-supported malaria research, please see the Recent Scientific Findings.
