SRS List
The designation "Senior Research Scientist" (SRS) has been established at JPL to provide special recognition, benefits, responsibilities and privileges for outstanding individual researchers in science and technology.
Eligibility is established by demonstrated research achievement comparable to that required for appointment as a professor at a leading university. This appointment is limited to people whose research is of the highest quality and significance, who have had a major impact on their field and who are widely recognized in the scientific community for their accomplishments. In addition to research ability, as established by peer review, the appointment also takes into account the individual’s institutional contribution to JPL.
Nomination for promotion to Senior Research Scientist is required for all appointments.
The technical Division Managers submit formal nominations to the JPL Chief Scientist. Additionally, current JPL Senior Research Scientists may make recommendations directly to the appropriate Technical Division Managers.
