Latest NumbersAverage hours per day the civilian population age 15 and over spent in selected primary activities 1 on weekdays, and weekends and holidays 2, 2008 annual averages:
Caring for and helping household members
Caring for and helping nonhousehold members
Working and work-related activities
Organizational, civic, and religious activities
Telephone calls, mail, and e-mail
1 A primary activity refers to an individual's main activity. Other activities done simultaneously are not included. All activity categories include related travel time. 2 Holidays are New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Data were not collected about Christmas day in 2008. |
