Fueling was not completed due to the failure of a fuel pump at the pad. That pump has been replaced and fueling is set to begin following ordnance installation operations tonight. The payload interface verification test on ORFEUS-SPAS is complete. The interface verification test on Wake Shield Facility is in work today. The payload doors will be closed for flight on Nov. 5 after final payload servicing is complete. Countdown preparations and aft engine compartment close-outs also began on time today and will continue throughout the week. Following the conclusion of the Flight Readiness Review (FRR) yesterday at KSC, managers have decided to conduct a follow-up FRR on Nov. 4 to review additional analysis being conducted on one Redesigned Solid Rocket Motor (RSRM) nozzle erosion experienced during mission STS-79. The KSC launch team will continue to prepare Columbia for launch as early as Nov. 8, pending further review of the RSRM's nozzle insulation material. A firm launch date is expected to be announced following this review. The payload bay doors will be opened today to continue payload bay reconfiguration operations. Forward reaction control system manifold pressure checks are set for Thursday. Delivery of the left-hand orbital maneuvering system pod to the OPF is scheduled for Nov. 4.
