As the September 11 attacks against our nation made clear, homeland security is an urgent need.
I have supported several measures aimed at strengthening our homeland security, including:
Authoring comprehensive port security legislation and working for increased port security funding.
Authoring and passing an airport security amendment requiring that all checked baggage without a corresponding passenger be removed from domestic flights.
Strongly supporting President Bush's creation of an Office of Homeland Security.
Strongly advocating fundamental immigration reform.
Fighting for fuding for state and local first responders.
