Getting Started
How do I access DOI LEARN?

Launch Internet Explorer and type https://doilearn.doi.gov in the address bar then type in your user i.d. and password. (See below).

How do I update my DOI LEARN profile?
Log in to DOI LEARN at http://doilearn.doi.gov, click on the Adminstration tab, then click the My Information tab. For step-by-step instructions see the How to Update your DOI LEARN profile. pdf. Top
Do I have to make any adjustments on my computer?

You should adjust your browser settings to enable cookies and Java. Clear your browser cache regularly. For step-by-step instructions see IEBrowser_Settings .pdf These adjustments make using DOI LEARN a better learning experience.

I can't find my mandatory training course listed in the My Courses area. How do I register??
Login to DOI LEARN and search the catalog for 2009. You should find all 2009 versions of mandatory training very easily. Simply click the Course Name, type in zeros into the estimated cost fields and click Submit. The course will now appear in your My Courses tab under Online Courses. Top
What happens the first time I log in to DOI LEARN?

The first time you log in, you will be required to create a user name and password; supply your e-mail address; select your Supervisor's name from a drop-down list. You will also be required to read and accept the "Rules of Behavior" for use of the LSM. For specific instructions about how to login for the first time, please access the Initial Login pdf document. How do I view all the courses available?

Click on the Catalog link in the Quick-menu bar at the top right of your screen. Use the basic or advanced search to search by keyword. Click browse catalog to search by course category. For step-by-step instructions see Search Catalog .pdf

How do I register for a class?

Click on the course name. Scroll through Class Details to locate the desired date. Enter estimated travel, per diem and materials costs (zeros can be used if no costs are required). Select Agency, Employee or Combination from drop-down. Click on Preview Schedule. Click on Apply. A request for training approval will be sent to your supervisor. How do I know I've been registered for a class? How can I cancel once registered?

Once you apply, a request will be sent to your supervisor. You will be notified via e-mail on the status of your request and registration. Once registered, the class should appear in your My Courses tab.

To cancel this registration you will click the "Request to Drop" link in the My Courses area. This will send an email notification to the Primary Contact of the class.

Please define the registration statuses used in the system.

There are just a few Class Roster statuses that you will see used in DOI LEARN. They are:

  • Registered - you have been approved and added to the roster for the class.
  • Closed Roster List - you have requested registration for a class but the roster has not been determined yet by the Course Leader.
  • Waitlist - you have been placed on a waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up on the roster.
  • Admin Drop - your registration has been dropped because of over enrollment, class cancellation or some other administrative reason.
  • Student Drop - you have requested to be dropped from the roster for a particular class.

Can I register several people in our office for a class?

DOI LEARN is a self service registration system. Each individual should log on and register themselves for training.

I'm a contractor or volunteer. How do I register for training?

You will have your own account manually created in the new system the FIRST TIME ONLY by requesting training as an external student. To find this external account request, click on the following link: http://doilearn.doi.gov/coursecatalog/index.cfm. Your login will be created within 2 business days and the information will be sent to you via email. After that, you will access the system by logging in as yourself, just like any other DOI employee. Please update your My Information area and be sure to include the organization code of the office that you work with.

Where do I find more help?

In the DOI LEARN system click on the Help in the Quick-menu bar. Or click on Help Desk in the main menu bar. For help outside the DOI LEARN system you can refer to the information at: http://training.fws.gov/doi_learn/DOILEARNtraining.htm.

I'm a supervisor, how do I approve training requests for my employees?

Training requests are found in the Approval Queue of DOI LEARN. To access, login to DOI LEARN, click on the Course Catalog tab, then click the Approval Queue link. Click the Search button to see all training requests waiting for your approval. Once you locate the specific training request, click the link under the Action column. This will allow you to approve that request by selecting the appropriate status in the drop down field. The training request is then moved forward to the class roster where the Course Leader or Training Tech will make final approval.

Is this the same system as OPM's USA Learning?

No, this is a different system. OPM's system, formally USA Learning and now GoLearn, is a completely separate system from DOI LEARN although the same vendor does host the OPM version so it looks somewhat similar. If you have a login for that system, please use it when you visit OPM's GoLearn.

How do I remove a supervisor or employee in the My Information area? How do I add an
      employee or supervisor?

To delete a supervisor from your profile, simply highlight their name and then scroll down and click 'Save'. This is the same way to delete employees from the supervisors profile.
To add employees or a supervisor to your profile, click the blue 'plus' button next to the appropriate field, search on a last name or org code, highlight the name in the search results, click Add Users, then click 'Save' at the bottom of your My Information screen.

How do I update my employees training records in DOI LEARN?

My new employees need to get entered into DOI LEARN and take their IT Security
      Training, how do I make this happen?

New employees get a record in DOI LEARN by import from the FPPS database. This generally takes from 2 to 3 weeks. In the meantime, new employees can download IT Security Training from http://www.doiu.nbc.gov/trainingcds and take the training.

Once the new employee has an account in DOI LEARN, the supervisor can update the employees transcript to reflect the completion by CD. (see question above for instructions.)

Will we be able to add training to this new system that we have taken previously?

Yes, there is an area to add 'Transcript Extras. Supervisors or their designated assistants are the only ones allowed to enter historical training data on behalf of the employee.

Does the system have a means to approve and track training not offered by DOI bureaus or
      offices?

The SF-182 module provides for approval and tracking of external courses taken by FWS Employees. This module was made live in DOI LEARN in Jan, 2009 and will soon be required to attend external training..
