This 3-day interagency course provides participants with tools to create sustainable funding strategies for non-profit partners. Participants will examine the life cycle of the non-profit world and gain skills needed to build collaborative relationships between Federal agencies and non-profit partners. Participants will learn about ethics and governance issues and clarify roles and responsibilities in a Federal / non-profit partnership. |

Who Should Attend: |
Primary audience is Department of the Interior employees who are on-the-ground practitioners and /or decision makers. All participants should have a partnership in place with a non-profit organization. Each Federal participant should bring one non-profit partner. |
Objectives: |
Through classroom discussion and group exercises participants will gain skills to:- Speak a common language in a federal agency and non-profit partnership
- Describe the life cycles of the non-profit world
- Identify key elements for a successful non-profit
- Use the collaborative process to enhance partnership capacity
- Apply a strengths-weakness-opportunities-threats (SWOT) analysis as the first-step in developing a strategic plan
- Learn how ethics apply in a non-profit and federal partnership
- Identify revenue streams for non-profit organizations
- Experience a conservation partnership onsite
- Review tools for building sustainable funding partnerships
- Draft a business plan for your federal and non-profit partnership
