Peyton T. Hairston, Jr.

Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility and Diversity, Ombudsman, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer

Peyton T. Hairston, Jr., was named as TVA’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Responsibility and Diversity, in April 2007.

He also serves as TVA's External Ombudsman and its Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer.

Hairston was previously Senior Vice President, Communications, responsible for TVA’s internal and external communications, Equal Opportunity Compliance, and Diversity Development.

Hairston served as Senior Vice President, Employee Relations and Diversity, from 2005 until March 2006.

He served as TVA’s Senior Vice President, Labor Relations, from 1994 to 1998 and again between 2000 and 2005.

Between 1998 and 2000, he served as Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives.

Hairston joined TVA in 1993. Before joining TVA, he was Senior Labor Counsel with Chiquita Brands International in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hairston serves on the boards of directors at the East Tennessee Foundation, Mercy Health Partners, Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation, and the Knoxville Area Urban League.

A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Hairston earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and his law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.
