A new report on the American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454) validates previous estimates that the cost of the legislation would be low--less than a quarter a day on average--while growth in America's clean energy sector will be huge. 

The Energy and Commerce Committee approved H.R. 3200, "America's Affordable Health Choices Act," by a vote of 31 to 28.  This legislation will build on what works in today's health care system, makes important insurance market reforms to protect consumers, encourages competition among insurance plans to improve choices for patients, and expands access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

The Committee on Energy and Commerce met on Friday, July 31, to conclude consideration of "H.R. 3200, America's Affordable Health Choices Act."

H.R. 2749, the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009, grants the Food and Drug Administration the authorities and resources it needs to better oversee the safety of the nation's food supply.  The legislation also increases industry's responsibility for overseeing the safety of their own products and provides FDA with new and enhanced tools to hold them accountable when they fail. The Committee reported H.R. 2749 favorably by a voice vote on June 17, 2009.
