Yuba River Fish Passage Feasibility Study

Southwest Region, Habitat Conservation Division  gave a presentation at the semi-annual Interagency Partnering Meeting between U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and CA. Department of Fish and Game on efforts to restore Spring-run Chinook Salmon and steelhead in the Yuba River.  Spring-run and steelhead in the Yuba River are listed as Threatened under the ESA.  Dams currently block these fish from 95-98% of their historic spawning and rearing habitat (~5,700 miles).  The Corps of Engineers, Englebright Dam is a complete barrier to approximately 563 miles of historic salmonid habitat.

NMFS recently awarded a contract for an engineering feasibility study to look at various passage options over Englebright Dam.
