MEMORANDUM FOR HEADS OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES

FROM:

LINDA M. SPRINGER
DIRECTOR

SUBJECT:

Wildfires in California

Many Federal employees in Southern California are facing personal emergencies and many parts of the Federal Government are mobilizing to serve the public as the wildfires continue to spread. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is extremely concerned about the health and safety of individuals whose lives may be affected by the wildfires and would like to remind agencies and employees that a recent memorandum (CPM 2007-06, July 11, 2007) posted on our Website provides ample information on the various human resources (HR) flexibilities available to assist Federal agencies and employees affected by emergency situations. Topics include—

  • Pay and Leave Benefits
  • Employee and Family Support Benefits
  • Telework
  • Special Solicitations for Charitable Contributions
  • Emergency Critical Hiring
  • Direct-Hire Authority
  • Other Hiring Flexibilities

This information is available at http://www.opm.gov/oca/compmemo/2007/2007-06.asp.
