Questions for the April Road to Recovery Webcast: “Treatment 101: Recovery Today” are due by Friday, April 17, 2009.
Submit your questions to this month’s expert, Wilson M. Compton, M.D., M.P.E., Director, Division of Epidemiology, Services and Prevention Research, National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) by contacting us. Answers from Dr. Compton will be posted on the Recovery Month Web site in early May. Contact information for questions will be kept confidential.
Mark Your Calendars for the May 6, 2009, Road to Recovery Webcast: Providing a Continuum of Care: Improving Collaboration Among Services
On May 6, join host, Ivette Torres, Associate Director for Consumer Affairs, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), for the May 2009 Road to Recovery Webcast. This webcast will include an examination of recovery-oriented systems of care in the United States and examples of services that have successfully partnered and will address the gaps in service coordination that still need to be addressed to improve collaboration throughout all systems so that individuals in recovery receive comprehensive care.
20th Anniversary Banners Available, Promote Recovery Month on Your Web Site
The 2009 banners for our 20th Anniversary Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Learn, Together We Heal are now posted on our Web site. Low- and high-resolution banners are available for download and use on your Web sites. Please place the banner on your Web site to link to http://www.recoverymonth.gov/ and bookmark the site on computers in your organization, school, or library to help us reach more people. If you had the previous year’s Recovery Month banner on your site, please update the banner with the 20th Anniversary banners provided.
Recovery Month Wants To Post Your Press Releases, News, Studies, and Reports, and Other Information
Recovery Month is interested in posting your news, press releases, studies, reports, calls for releases, and other information. If you have materials related to substance use disorders, treatment, and recovery, please send them to recoverymonth@samhsa.gov.
Call for 2009 Recovery Delegate Applications: May 15th Deadline
On September 12, 2009, join the Recovery Month Planning Partners, National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD), A&E Network, Faces and Voices of Recovery, Partnership for a Drug-Free America, and National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) in New York City to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Recovery Month and participate in the 2nd Annual Recovery Rally and Recovery Delegate Program. What a great way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month! Visit our Web site for more information and to download the Recovery Delegate application.
Celebrate Recovery All Year Long: We want to hear about your recovery events that occur throughout the year!
The Recovery Month observance is not limited to September. Events can be held all year long to increase the education and understanding of addiction, treatment, and recovery issues. Start planning your events, proclamations, and observances and post them to http://www.recoverymonth.gov.
