National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day - May 7, 2009

Today Is Awareness Day!

SAMHSA proudly supports National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day (Awareness Day). Awareness Day promotes positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services for children and youth with serious mental health needs.

This year's theme, Thriving in the Community, emphasizes that youth who receive needed services are more likely to have positive outcomes. Year-round and through Awareness Day, supporters aim to inspire and teach youth, families, peers, educators, care providers, and others that youth with mental health needs can and do thrive in their environment.

You too can show your commitment, promote health delivery, and nurture the mental health of the children in your home and community. Visit the 2009 Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day page to learn more about how you can get involved and share trusted, valuable information!
