KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SPACE SHUTTLE STATUS REPORT FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, 1995 (4:02 PM EDT) MISSION: STS-69 -- WSF-2 & SPARTAN 201-03 VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 LOCATION: Pad 39A TARGET LAUNCH DATE/TIME: August 31 at 11:04 a.m. EDT LAUNCH WINDOW: 2 hours, 30 minutes TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: September 11 at 7:33 a.m. MISSION DURATION: 10 days, 20 hours, 29 minutes CREW SIZE: 5 ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 230 statute miles/28.45 degrees NOTE: Work to install the nozzle plugs on the solid rocket boosters was delayed again last night due to high winds associated with Tropical Storm Jerry. Work is now back on schedule as the storm drifts to the northwest. Once the plugs are installed a 24-hour cure period will begin. Ordnance installation and operations to pressurize the hypergolic reaction system will be performed over the weekend. A delta flight readiness review for mission STS-69 was held today to discuss the success of the booster operations and to set August 31 as the official launch date for Endeavour. The bay has been cleared for this hazardous operation. KEY OPERATIONAL MILESTONES (dates are target only): * Install space shuttle main engines (Aug. 28-29) * Install forward reaction control system (Aug. 29) * Install Orbiter Docking System (Aug. 30) * Install Russian Mir-2 Docking Module (Sept. 7) DISCOVERY/OV-103 -- Pre-Orbiter Maintenance Down Period VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103 LOCATION: Orbiter Processing Facility bay 1 TARGET DATE OF DEPARTURE FOR PALMDALE FOR OMDP: Sept. 26 NOTE: Discovery is scheduled to be delivered to Palmdale, Calif., for a nine-month Orbiter Maintenance Down Period (OMDP). During this time, the vehicle will be outfitted with a 5th set of cryogenic tanks and an external airlock to support missions to the international Space Station. Discovery is scheduled to depart Kennedy Space Center via the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft on Sept. 26. Discovery’s next flight, the second mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope, is targeted for launch in early 1997.
