Veterans' Assistance

DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS
Phone: (800) 827-1000

My staff and I are concerned with the well-being of our nation's veterans and will assist you with any difficulty you are experiencing with the VA. If you require assistance with a VA claim, please provide a detailed, signed letter, attached to my privacy release form and forward it to my New York City office.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides a wide variety of services to veterans, their dependents, and survivors of deceased veterans. The VA is responsible for administering benefits to qualifying veterans including: service-connected disability or death, dependency and indemnity compensation for survivors of veterans, vocational rehabilitation and counseling for service-disabled veterans, pension for veterans unable to work, home loan guaranty, U.S. Government and National Life Insurance, "Wheelchair Homes," automobiles or other conveyances for certain disabled veterans, a guardianship service to protect incompetent and minor beneficiaries, education liaison service to colleges and training establishments, burial allowances, and flags to drape the caskets of deceased veterans.

Please note that the rules of the Senate Ethics Committee prohibit United States Senators from becoming involved in the judicial process. If you are having legal problems, you may wish to contact an attorney for assistance
