Additional $250 in Recovery Benefits for Social Security and SSI Beneficiaries

The White House announced yesterday to much fanfare that it will send out $250 in economic recovery payments to those on Social Security or who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), as part of the Economic Recovery plan. This was an initiative borne out of the Ways and Means Committee and enthusiastically championed by myself.

You won't have to take any extra action. Just wait until early May for your check in the mail. It will be sent separately from your regular Social Security or SSI payments.

There can be no better way to stimulate the economy than getting money in the hands of those Americans who need it most − the elderly and those with disabilities. This is an immediate $13 billion injected into the economy, spread to more than 50 million Americans, who need this money for food, medicines, and other necesities.

Please give us an update on the proposed legislation to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction for persons earning in excess of $250,000 per year.
As a Realtor, this is critical to my business.

Greetings from Cassandra Wimbs,

Thank you for your letter to me. I am on SSI. Your

booklet says that I should receive $250 in May. But I haven't received my letter. Now my mother has received

a letter. I would just like to receive my letter. Also

you should order Howard University Magazines.

Blessings,

Greetings,

I don't know about an early May receipt. I heard that

it was the end of May but I am glad you said that.
