Food Security Media Campaign
NASA will be coming out with a series of feature stories and researcher profiles, a new NASA Web page, and a live media event to promote NASA’s research and applications that advance food security – that is, the viability and sustainability of food supplies in the U.S. and around the globe.
The effort begins on May 26, coinciding with the spring Joint Assembly of the AGU in Toronto. The initial features would be followed by at least 7 additional features (roughly one per week) on related research findings and NASA-funded applications that would lead up to a media event in August.
The impetus for the campaign was a series of excellent talks by Molly Brown and Cynthia Rosenzweig, as well as a number of recent and forthcoming papers. The campaign is timely on several levels, not least of which is NASA's desire to promote applications of its science.
