Back-to-school parental communication campaign
focuses on text messaging

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – According to the 2007 Partnership Attitude Tracking Study (PATS), 73 percent of teens report school stress is the primary reason for drug use. The study shows parents, however, are alarmingly unaware, as only 7 percent believe teens use drugs and alcohol to cope with stress.

“Back to school is a stressful time,” states Bert Wood, CEO of Partnership for a Drug-Free NC. “Parents should support and communicate with their children about healthful ways to deal with stress. Reach out and touch them the same way they communicate with their friends. Now is the ‘time to talk or text’.”

METH EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAM
TO START IN PIEDMONT TRIAD

North Carolina Atty. Gen., WSPD, and Mayor Allen Joines endorse program citing need for meth reduction in the state.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Partnership for a Drug-Free NC, North Carolina Attorney General, Roy Cooper, the Winston-Salem Police Department, and Winston-Salem Mayor, Allen Joines have announced a new methamphetamine education and awareness program called Meth360.

The course is part of a Partnership for a Drug-Free North Carolina and Drug-Free America initiative designed to raise awareness of and reduce the demand for methamphetamine.
