Senator Roberts Announces Over $177,000 in Funds for Renewable Energy in Stanton County
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced a $118,282 loan and a $59,141 grant to Freedom Farms, Inc. in Johnson for renewable energy.
The funds will be used to assist farmers, ranchers, and rural small businesses in developing renewable energy systems, and in making energy-efficiency improvements to their operations. This project will replace natural gas or diesel irrigation engines with electric motors and variable frequency drives.
The grant and loan were awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Office under the Rural Energy for America Program Loan/Grant Combination Program. Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
