Abstract: For the second consecutive year, Federal Chief Information Officers (CIOs) have identified the need for skilled IT workers as their most critical issue and through its "Federal IT Workforce Challenge" initiative, the Federal CIO Council IT Workforce Committee presents its updated plans for strategies to develop and maintain an effective Federal IT workforce in the "2001 Update of the Plan for Implementing the Federal IT Workforce Challenge Recommendations". The Committee's agenda encompasses the full employment life cycle: workforce planning, recruitment and retention, and career development.
