Mr. Wiesner is a recognized Government leader with over thirty-two years of information technology (IT) career experience in the Executive Branch. Since August 2003, Mr. Wiesner has served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and Director of the Information Technology Center at the Department of Labor (DOL). In this capacity, Mr. Wiesner serves as the principal advisor to top Departmental executives and key agency managers in the area of information technology (IT) and information management. He plans, directs and oversees the IT programs for DOL, ensuring that they align to the Department’s strategic plan and enterprise architecture. Along with these responsibilities, Mr. Wiesner ensures that IT investments are effective and efficient in accordance with Federal and Department regulations to execute sound capital planning and investment strategies.

Prior to his present assignment, Mr. Wiesner worked at the Transportation Security Administration during its first years of existence as a new Federal agency. He began his SES career in 1998, at the Department of Treasury where he held a variety of executive positions in the Chief Information Office, including Director of Corporate Systems Management, Director of the Office of Security and Information Systems Security, and Director of Wireless Programs. While at Treasury, Mr. Wiesner was nominated by his Federal government peers and served as Chairman of the Interagency Management Council, a Federal-wide advisory body that provides oversight to the General Systems Administration’s telecommunications programs.

Mr. Wiesner began his Federal government career at the National Security Agency in 1975. Subsequently, he joined the U.S. Secret Service and began a twenty-year career. At the Service he advanced to increasing levels of managerial responsibilities in information technology, and provided communications travel support for both the President and Vice President.

Since joining DOL, Mr. Wiesner has received numerous awards in recognition of his leadership abilities, including eight of the Department’s highest achievement awards for projects under his jurisdiction.
