Bobby German has been acting in the NASA CIO position since January 2009. Previously, he spent one and a half years as NASA’s Deputy CIO. As NASA’s senior information technology (IT) official, he provides overall leadership, policy direction, and oversight of NASA information management and IT. In addition to overseeing multiple operations and development activities related to IT security and infrastructure, Mr. German is responsible for IT strategic planning and communications, investment management, applications portfolio management, enterprise architecture, electronic Government (e-Gov) initiatives, privacy, and records management. Previously, Mr. German led a major program which implemented NASA’s enterprise-wide business systems, integrating finance, budget, procurement, asset management, and human capital processes and data. Throughout his NASA career, which started in 1982, Mr. German has held several management positions related to managing computing and networking environments. Mr. German holds a master's degree in business administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and computer science.
