The American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) is a nationwide organization of poison centers and interested individuals. The objectives of AAPCC are to (1) provide a forum for poison centers and interested individuals to promote the reduction of morbidity and mortality from poisonings through public and professional education and scientific research and (2) set voluntary standards for poison center operations. Activities provided by AAPCC include development of public and professional education programs, certification of regional poison centers and poison center personnel, and interaction with private and government agencies whose activities influence poisoning and poison centers.
The Association provides public and professional materials regarding poison prevention and education, including fact sheets and teaching aids. The Association also maintains a newsletter, The Poison Line, published six times a year.
