NCUA Board Members
NCUA has a full-time, three-member board appointed by the President of the United
States and confirmed by the Senate. No more than two board members can be from the
same political party, and each member serves a staggered six-year term. The NCUA
board normally meets monthly, except August, in open session in Alexandria, Virginia.

Chairman Michael E. Fryzel
George W. Bush nominated Mr. Fryzel to the NCUA Board on November 30, 2007. His
nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate June 26, 2008, and he took the oath
of office as Chairman of the NCUA Board July 29, 2008. Chairman Fryzel was an attorney
in private practice specializing in financial, regulatory and real estate law prior
to his appointment. In that capacity, he represented credit unions and other financial
service industries as well as various trade organizations. Mr. Fryzel served on
the Illinois Governor’s Board of Credit Union Advisors from 1992 to his NCUA appointment.

Vice Chairman Rodney E. Hood
- Rodney E. Hood was appointed by President George W. Bush to a seat on the NCUA
Board November 15, 2005. His term expires April 10, 2009. Mr. Hood joins the NCUA
Board after serving the Department of Agriculture as USDA Associate Administrator
for Rural Development's Housing Program since September 2004, addressing the housing

Board Member Gigi Hyland
- Gigi Hyland took office on November 18, 2005, as a member of the NCUA Board for
a six-year term. Her term expires August 2, 2011. Prior to joining the NCUA Board,
Ms. Hyland's career spanned 14 years serving the credit union community. Read More
