Progress to Implementation

National Intelligence Reform Act of 2004 Signed Into Law

On December 17, 2004 President Bush signed into law the largest restructuring of our intelligence agencies since the 1947 National Security Act.

Text of the National Intelligence Reform Act of 2004

Press Releases Regarding Passage:

December 16, 2004 - 9/11 Commission Caucus Chairs Anticipate Signing of 9/11 Commission Bill and Offer Reminder That the Work is Not Done

Eventhough, the National Intelligence Reform Act has been signed into law, more work needs to be done to fully enact the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Report.

One example of what still needs to be done is the reorganization of congressional oversight. Click here to see what Representatives Maloney and Shays are doing.
