(Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) - Environmental Protection Agency's 2006 National Sustainable Design Expo will be held on the National Mall in Washington, DC Tuesday, May 9 through Wednesday, May 10, 2006. The Expo will highlight advances in sustainable design and technology. Exhibitors will showcase practical and innovative products and solutions for consumers, businesses, and government.

The expo will be held in conjunction with the P3 Award Competition, a student design competition for college students from across the U.S. who have developed sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. In total, 41 student teams were selected to compete for the 2nd Annual P3 Awards in May 2006. The teams represent 21 universities across the country.

P3 is a partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve economic prosperity while protecting the natural systems of the planet and providing a higher quality of life. The P3 competition and awards provide grants to teams of college students to research, develop, and design sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. P3 highlights people, prosperity, and the planet - the three pillars of sustainability - as the next step beyond P2 or pollution prevention.

EPA is also hosting exhibits for non-profits and government agencies working on sustainability issues.

The Expo will take place on the Mall, between 3rd and 4th Streets, SW, near the Capitol, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. For more information, visit http://es.epa.gov/ncer/p3/press/agenda06.html.
