Chairman Rockefeller Applauds New Members Of President’s Science And Technology Advisory Council

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator John D (Jay) Rockefeller IV (D-WV), Chairman of the U.S. Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s announcement of new members on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST):

“This advisory council will help us take science out of the laboratory and into our communities to help people understand how science and technology impacts their everyday lives – from clean air and water, to fixing our economy.  These individuals will provide a real service to our country; there is much work to be done and no time to waste.”

PCAST is an advisory group of the nation’s leading scientists and engineers who will advise the President and Vice President and formulate policy in the many areas where understanding of science, technology, and innovation is key to strengthening our economy and forming policy that works for the American people.
