INTERPOL Washington hosted the quarterly meeting of the International Policing Division Committee with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) on Wednesday, June 8. Acting DEA Administrator Michelle Leonhart chaired the committee which included 34 officials from various police organizations both domestically and internationally.



On June 1, Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. visited the management and staff of INTERPOL-USNCB. He fielded questions from the staff during an open forum and met one-on-one with the INTERPOL-USNCB leadership. This was the first time the Attorney General had visited the office since being confirmed as the Eighty-Second Attorney General of the United States.



The 24th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run took place on Friday, June 5, 2009. This annual run generates funds to sponsor the District of Colombia Special Olympics. Mary Norris, Brandon List, Andrew Haugen, Lucinda McLaughlin and Ernie Buck volunteered to coordinate INTERPOL-USNCB’s participation. More than 30 staff members donated money to the D.C. Special Olympics and more than 20 participants attended the torch run.

Various agencies were represented at the event including: Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Capitol Police, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and INTERPOL-USNCB.

After walking/jogging the 2-mile course that began at the U.S. Capitol and ended at Fort McNair, participants celebrated this special event with a picnic that included barbeque, games and music. The Torch Run was a great experience for those who donated and attended the event. It was an opportunity for the entire law enforcement community to come together for a terrific and special cause.
