The Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program manages grant programs for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and provides technical assistance to states, Indian tribes, and foreign governments to help them manage their energy programs.
Clean Energy and Air Quality
Through this project, EERE works with states and local governments to include renewable energy and energy efficiency projects into their plans for improving air quality.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants
States, local governments, Indian tribes, and U.S. territories can obtain block grants to improve energy efficiency and install renewable energy systems.
International Renewable Energy
Through this program, DOE cooperates with international research and development projects in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency and supports targeted technology applications overseas.
Renewable Energy Production Incentive
DOE manages this incentive for municipal utilities that produce electricity from renewable energy resources.
State Energy Program
The State Energy Program (SEP) provides grants to states to help them carry out their renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.
Technical Assistance Project for State and Local Officials
Through the Technical Assistance Project, DOE provides short-term technical assistance to state and local officials for cross-cutting policy projects that meet certain guidelines.
Tribal Energy
Through this program, EERE offers financial and technical assistance to Indian tribes to help them create sustainable renewable energy installations on their lands.
Weatherization Assistance
The Weatherization Assistance Program helps low-income households reduce their energy bills by permanently increasing the energy efficiency of their homes. DOE provides funding to states, which manage the day-to-day details of the program. Low-income families receive services from a network of about 970 local weatherization service providers.
