Hoyer Praises Senate Passage of DC House Voting Rights Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) issued the following statement after the Senate approved the DC House Voting Rights Act by a vote of 61-37. Companion legislation (H.R. 157) sponsored by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) was reported out of committee yesterday, and Leader Hoyer announced that the House will consider it on the Floor next week.

“With Senate passage of the DC House Voting Rights Act, a primary obstacle standing in the way of DC residents and their vote in the House has been removed. I am confident that we have the votes in the House to pass Congresswoman Norton’s legislation and look forward to holding a vote next week.”
