Douglas Verner, Chief Information Officer

Doug Verner is the Chief Information Officer (CIO). As CIO, he is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, management, security and control of NCUA’s information processing and technology resources.

Verner joined NCUA in 1987 as NCUA’s information systems auditor. He also served as the information systems examination and policy advisor in the Office of Examination and Insurance. Before joining NCUA, Verner was an accountant with the Department of State and an information systems auditor with the Veterans Administration Inspector General’s Office and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Child Support Enforcement.

Verner received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976. He is an alumnus of the Council for Excellence in Government Fellows Program and the Program for Senior Managers in Government from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, and a member and Certified Government Financial Manager from the Association of Government Accountants.

The Office of the Chief Information Officer is responsible for managing NCUA's automated information resources. This includes: collecting, validating and securely storing electronic agency information; developing, implementing and maintaining computer hardware, software and data communications infrastructure; and ensuring related security and integrity risks are recognized and controlled.
