68.1 ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY

Established: As a legislative agency by an act of September 22, 1922 (42 Stat. 1023).

Functions: Investigated the coal industry and its problems. Assisted Congress in framing legislation.

Abolished: By expiration of legislative mandate, September 22, 1923.

Successor Agencies: Geological Survey as liquidator, by EO 3901, September 13, 1923.
