Accreditation

Eleven RCFLs have earned American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board—the Greater Houston RCFL being the latest RCFL to earn this distinction.

FBI lab to open in O.C. to nab cyber criminals - July 22, 2009 - Orange County law-enforcement agencies will deploy a new, $5 million FBI digital forensics lab in the central part of the county when it opens in February. It will be the 16th such lab in the country. Click here to read the full story and see photos from the event.
Former Musician Found Guilty of Murder – July 13, 2009
Although no physical evidence was presented during the trial of Steven L. Zirko, a jury found him guilty in less than six hours for the murders of Mary Lacey, 38, and her mother, Margaret Ballog, 60. The Chicago RCFL provided critical digital forensics support, and an Examiner testified for three hours at trial – click here for the full story.

On October 14, 2009, from 1:00pm-3:00pm EST, the RCFL Program will present a free Webinar for law enforcement/government personnel on the proper handling of handheld devices such as smart/cell phones, GPS’, iPods, USB/flash devices at crime scenes. Participants will learn about basic data recovery, legal issues and more. The event is free, but you must register to participate. Click here to learn more.
