Massive sand dunes have been swept between rock outcroppings in the barren Libyan Desert. Only a handful of oases lie scattered across this especially arid section of the vast Sahara Desert.

This scene was acquired by the ASTER instrument on NASA’s Terra satellite on March 2, 2002.
