East Texas Plant Materials Center

Established 1982

The East Texas Plant Materials Center in Nacogdoches, Texas provides plant solutions for eastern Texas and northwest Louisiana. The Center has developed new technology for mining and timber reclamation, improving saline soils, protecting streambanks and wetlands, enhancing wildlife habitat and improving range and pasture lands. The Center has released improved conservation plants including varieties of "Jackson" eastern gamagrass, "Medina" eastern gamagrass, Pilgrim Germplasm velvet panicum, Crockett herbaceous mimosa select germplasm, and Harrison Florida paspalum select germplasm.
