Description of the ASRP Profile 8

  • Profile 8 is part of the Low Intermediate Group of ASRP Profiles. The Low Intermediate Group is made up of three profiles (7-9) that have Silent Reading Comprehension scores between Grade Equivalent (GE) 4 and 5.9.
  • Their Word Meaning (Vocabulary) skill is higher than their Print Skills (Alphabetics) (Word Recognition and Spelling).
  • They have the highest average Word Meaning scores of the three profiles in the Low Intermediate Group.

Oral reading rate

Profile 8 had an average oral reading rate of 115 words per minute.

As a frame of reference, skilled adult readers (such as college students) have an average oral reading rate of 189 words per minute. RR
