Assessment Strategies and Reading Profiles

About the ASRP Web Site

The Web site was designed in 2002 by Rosalind Davidson, Ed.D. and Kelly Bruce at the National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy (NCSALL) at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education with funding from the National Institute for Literacy.

Dr. Davidson, the Web site project director, was a Research Associate at NCSALL and also the Assistant Director of the Adult Reading Components Study (ARCS), the original research upon which this Web site is based. In addition, Dr. Davidson co-taught a course in adult reading instruction at the Harvard Graduate School of Education with Dr. John Strucker, the Principal Investigator for the ARCS.

The ASRP website was revised in 2009 by Dr. Davidson, Dr. Strucker, Steve Quann, and Sally Waldron at World Education, Inc., again with funding from the National Institute for Literacy. An Expert Working Group made up of Jane Ashby, Mary Beth Curtis, John Fleischman, AnneMarie Molinari, Norene Peterson, and Jane Shore conducted an initial comprehensive review of the Web site, made specific suggestions for revisions, and provided feedback throughout that  process. Revisions included a more streamlined menu and alignment of the ASRP profiles with the National Reporting System. New content was added in the areas of Fluency, Word Meaning (Vocabulary), and the needs of the Non-native Speakers of English enrolled in ABE classes.
