Economic Research Division Internships

Dissertation Internships

The Divisions of International Finance, Monetary Affairs, and Research and Statistics, offer paid internships for graduate students to conduct research at the Federal Reserve Board.

Internships are offered in the spring, summer, and fall.

Interns work on a topic of their own choosing, usually furthering dissertation research begun before the internship. Preference is given to Ph.D. candidates whose topics are in macroeconomics (broadly defined), international economics, finance, banking, and econometrics. Applications are also welcome from students working in other fields of economics.

Project Internships

The Division of Research and Statistics offers paid internships during the summer for graduate and undergraduate students to work on projects previously identified by economists in the division.

These positions are available to students majoring in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, or computer science.

Unpaid Internships

Throughout the year, the Division of Research and Statistics occasionally offers opportunities for students to work on projects as unpaid interns. The duration of the internship is generally ten to twelve weeks, depending on the assigned projects.

Summer unpaid internships selections are based solely on academic records and references. On-site interviews are not conducted.
